We are Kimberly and Bruce. Thank you for reading a little bit about who we are.
We met six years ago on e-Harmony. Kimberly’s dad had given her a subscription to e-Harmony for Christmas one year with a card that said “because you are too wonderful to be alone.” It was several years later however before we met each other! Bruce had tried other dating sites but his friend finally convinced him it was worth giving e-Harmony a chance. We are so glad she convinced him! He was matched with Kimberly within two weeks of his joining! Bruce lived in Maryland at the time and Kimberly lived in New Jersey. e-Harmony matched us despite being outside of our distance parameters. We decided to give it a chance! Within six months of meeting each other Bruce sold his beloved Jeep for something more practical for distance and moved to New Jersey. We were married two years later. We’ve been married for three and a half years now and have never looked back! We are so grateful we have found each other and are building a life together.
We recently sold Kimberly’s townhouse and purchased a lovely home in the country with a beautiful yard and a neighborhood pool. We both waited a long time to get married. It was important to both of us to find a partner that shared the same faith, values, and focus on family. We wanted the kind of marriage that would last a lifetime. It is a first marriage for both of us and neither of us have any children from prior relationships. We are so grateful to be building a life together. Now it is time to build a family!
We were both raised in Protestant Christian homes. We deeply value our relationship with God and desire our home to be one that reflects our faith and the strong values we share. We both came from close knit families that prioritized our faith and investing in family.
Kimberly’s parents are both deceased now and unfortunately her siblings are not close by. She has an Aunt and Uncle who visit regularly though and maintains the more distant relationships with occasional visits and the use of technology.
Bruce’s family in Maryland and Delaware are closer. We get to enjoy family get togethers fairly often. We spend many of the holidays together and we always look forward to spending time at his parent’s beach house in the summer with his niece and nephews!
We have ten nieces and nephews between us. One of our favorite parts of our wedding was all of them participating in the ceremony and being able to play together at our reception! That was pretty special!
When we are blessed to be able to raise a child we would like to raise them with the support and blessing of a large family that knows how to support them through the good times and the bad...A home of unconditional love that is always a safe spot to land, surrounded by Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Grandparents that help to guide and support through the ups and downs. We hope to be able to build those relationships through family gatherings, barbecues, birthdays, holidays and get togethers that happen just because.
Because our families are not right around the corner, we are dedicated to investing in friendships and community as well. We have just moved to a new community but we are taking steps to find a new church family and to get to know our new neighborhood. Talk of block parties have begun and we look forward to watching that develop in the days and years to come! Our friends are excited about the prospect of our beginning a family of our own and they are eager to welcome our child into our circle.
Bruce is the planner extraordinaire in our relationship! He is incredibly creative and great about finding (or creating!) fun things to do. From the many train rides (historical trains), to hikes in state parks, visiting waterfalls, surprise canoe trips, camping, concerts at Carnegie Hall in NYC, trips to CVS to grab a sled and take advantage of a snow storm…we are game for anything! We like the outdoors and we like to find little random things to do in our community or pretty places to just go walk around and take in the sights. We like to take walks in the evening and trips to the beach to listen to the ocean. Some of our favorite times are just at home, however. Sitting around the firepit making camp pies or making a fire in the fireplace. A cozy night at home can be pretty amazing too!
We cook a lot so food is a pretty important part of our lives as well. We make everything from scratch -from ice cream to dehydrating fruit and making turkey jerky - we spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Bruce likes to surprise Kimberly by making little treats for her and Kimberly likes to make meals that support health and are nourishing as well as tasty! And a pretty table who can resist? Much to Bruce’s dismay – all those sets of pretty dishes!
We believe that in order for a child to feel whole they need to know who they are and that includes you! You are their birthmom and that is a role that is irreplaceable in their life. A child can never be loved by too many! We are happy to share with you in the growth and development of your little one to the extent that you desire and are able. We are happy to send pictures. We understand that Family Options has an annual picnic where we can get together…we want our child to be able to have lasting, growing relationships with those that love them. We are happy to make you a part of that if you would like to do so.
As a teacher, I, Kimberly, teach children from very diverse backgrounds. All sorts of differences in race, language, color, custom, and even economic status come and sing with me in my classroom. The most beautiful piece to me about diversity is that when I look at all their faces I just see children, with their beautiful personalities, their wishes, desires, ways of expressing themselves, I see individuals that all have something amazing to offer in their own little ways. As a family, we will embrace the child that comes to join our family for who they are as unique and valued individuals. We are happy to learn about and embrace the race and culture of any child who comes to our home because that is part of who they are and that should be enjoyed and celebrated!

We know that the fact that you are here and reading this means that you are facing perhaps the most challenging decision of your life – the future of your child. We hope that you have the love and support you need as you walk this part of your journey. We leave you with the following verse that has been a deep source of encouragement when life’s journey has been tough:
“The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
There is a beautiful choral arrangement of this verse by Peter Lutkin. We had some friends sing it at our wedding. Here is a recording of it. Perhaps it will speak to you as it does to us.
As sung by Kimberly’s Alma Mater
