Our Story
We are Juliana and Kyle – welcome to our profile! We first met when Juliana was a freshman and Kyle was a senior in college. Kyle was recruiting Juliana to the engineering club. We sat and talked for an hour about where our families were from and which book Kyle was reading. We didn’t speak to each other until three years later when Kyle ran into Juliana at the bank, where Juliana worked as a bank teller while finishing school. We dated for a year and a half before getting engaged and tying the knot in 2009. Our favorite dates were going to the movies and using the pool and hot tub. When Juliana finished college, we decided to get married where it all started – Santa Clara Mission. We have been married for 10 years. Our favorite thing to do (even after a decade!) is to hang out with each other. We love cooking fun new meals together, watching movies, and exploring new workouts.
We have a six-year-old daughter named Bluebelle who has added more personality and adventures to our family life. We love the close relationship that we have and look forward to growing our family through adoption.

Family Life
Juliana is the third child of four sisters, who are her best friends. Juliana was born and raised in California and is an engineer and runs her own dance school. Juliana loves balancing work and home life to be able to pick up our daughter right when she is out of school to start afternoon adventures.
Kyle is the youngest of three, he has an older sister and brother. Kyle was born and raised in Minnesota and moved out to California for college. Kyle’s line of work led him to establish a home in California. He is an engineer and an avid basketball player. He loves his morning routine with our daughter, where they get daddy-daughter time to do breakfast and play guessing games on the way to school.
We have a four-year-old dog named Petunia. Our daughter couldn’t pronounce Petunia when she was young, hence her nickname Tunni. Tunni is a sweet energetic dog that loves to snuggle and eat broccoli!
We are a transracial family, Juliana’s background is from Bangladesh and Kyle’s background is from Scotland and Ireland. Juliana and Kyle value faith and plan to raise their family as Christians.

Lifestyle
We live in a unique neighborhood of a dense urban city in Northern California, where we see deer, goats, and cows on the regular – a definite rarity for a city life. Our neighbors are very helpful and always watch out for each other.
Kyle turned the garage into a dance studio. This is where Juliana loves to dance, teach, and do yoga. Juliana was an integral part of putting the basketball hoop up in the front of the house. This is where Kyle loves to shoot hoops and work on his jumper. We love to go out for family walks with Tunni and draw in the front with chalk. When summer comes, we are all about running through sprinklers, slip and slides, and water balloon fights.

Adoption
If we are fortunate enough to adopt, we plan to have an open adoption. While we are a private family, we are comfortable with sharing pictures and letters via mail or email at a predetermined schedule and as milestones for the child occur. Additionally, we plan to attend the annual get together to reconnect. It is important to us that we are both comfortable with how contact is setup and look forward to getting to know you so that we can establish what works well for us all. We believe open adoption is the best way to go for the sake of the child so that the child can have a complete picture of who they are by also knowing where they came from.
We are a transracial family and find it so important to expose each other and our daughter to our cultural roots. Being born and raised in America doesn’t make it easy to share ethnic traditions. However, we have surrounded ourselves with friends, family, and experiences to ensure that we all know where we come from. We plan to do this for our children as our family grows - talking to them about ethnic traditions and celebrations and incorporating those traditions and celebrations into our lives.
If our child has different ethnic background, we plan to educate ourselves and surround ourselves with the appropriate community to bring the support and love that our child needs in order to know their background. We are fortunate to live in such a place where diversity is valued.
