Hi, we are John and Elizabeth (Liz). We are humbled to get the chance to introduce ourselves to you. Thank you for visiting our page!
We met online and had our first date at a coffee shop. Liz had a coffee and John had hot chocolate because he's not a coffee guy. Sitting together in that cozy space we knew there was something special between us. Well, actually John knew. Liz knew on our second date when John waited for her out in the rain to reserve the parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Watching him stand in the pouring rain and putting her well-being above his own melted Liz's heart. We have been together now for almost 6 years and married for over three years. Our marriage is a strong, loving partnership and we are so grateful to have found one another.
Family is everything to us! We both come from big families. John is one of four and Liz is one of five siblings. We love to host family dinners and sleepovers with our nieces and nephews at our house. Our brothers and sisters are our best friends.
Holidays are a combination of old and new family traditions. Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday because it is all about good food and family. We gather with our extended family including all the aunts, uncles and cousins in gratitude. At Christmas time we search the tree farm for the perfect Christmas tree. We celebrate Christmas Eve with John’s family and Christmas day with Liz’s family. We are looking forward to weaving new traditions together with our existing ones when we become parents.
Our dog, Josie is a big part of our little family. She is a sweet Labradoodle. Josie adores children and will do anything our nieces and nephews ask of her. She keeps us active through walks and playtime in our big backyard.
We were both raised Catholic and although we do not attend church regularly our faith is a cornerstone of the people we have become. We will raise our child with Christian values of kindness and to treat others as you want to be treated.
We live in a cozy, four bedroom home on a quiet, family friendly street. There is a park around the corner from our house where the neighborhood kids ride bikes and fish. Our town has lots of events throughout the year like kids super-hero races, holiday parades and farmer’s markets in the summer. We cannot wait to share all of that fun with a little one! The local schools are award winning and that was a big consideration in moving to this area.
We love to get outside and take advantage of all the local hiking trails in our area. During the colder months we hit the ski slopes. We aren’t experts but we have a great time. Our home life is low key and happy. On a regular day we like to cook together as we talk, laugh and sometimes sing. On the weekends we make a big pancake breakfast. Whether it’s making a meal, working in our yard or doing projects around the house, we love working together as a team.
Our intention is to honor both you and your child by cultivating the best relationship possible with you. Together we can navigate the path of open adoption and figure out what works best if that is what you choose. We are open to communication through updates, photos, phone contact and visits at the family picnic. Two members of our extended family are adoptees. Our hope is that this shared experience will be another layer of support for your child.
We will always support your child in knowing the beauty and traditions of their culture by incorporating food, music and books of their culture in our daily lives. We will seek out cultural events and provide opportunities for your child to make cultural connections. As our extended family has grown there has been more diversity added to our family. That diversity has been embraced and respected and we know that your child will have that experience too if they join our family.
