“Birthmother Portraits” is
an intimate portrayal of three young women who, when faced with
unplanned pregnancies, each make the difficult decision to place
her child for adoption. Each of their stories is unique... their
life circumstances are all different...but they all act with a mother’s
love and hope for the best possible life for their children.
Elissa, age 19 and pregnant: ‘I’m
sure I’ll think about changing my mind a million times again,
just like I think about it a million times every day...”
Laura, birthmother of Jamie: “I
held him for about 45 minutes, just whispering in his ear that I
loved him…and that he would be happy.”
Dawn, placed her son 11 years ago: “I
felt great relief…I just knew in my heart that everything
was going to be okay.”
“Birthmother Portraits” offers a revealing
look at the conflict, determination, and deep devotion of birthparents
who choose adoption. It acknowledges the unique bond between birth
family, adoptive family, and the child they mutually love.
