Welcome to our page, we are Travis, Sarah, and Kelsie! We met when Travis was visiting his best friend from high school, who happened to go to the same college as Sarah. We got married in 2007, at Sarah’s grandmother’s church in New Jersey, surrounded by friends and family. After almost twelve years of marriage, it’s amazing how time has just flown by. We’re such a good balance to each other, and are both active, adventurous, and funny people.
Even before we were married, we both knew that we wanted multiple children. Adoption will always be a part of our story as Sarah is adopted herself! Many of Sarah’s cousins and family members are also adopted. After we adopted our daughter, Kelsie, in 2013, we still had the same dream of having a larger family. We envision our family like the movie “The Family Stone” – all gathered around the table at holidays and gatherings, just having a blast together.
Kelsie is now 5 years old, in pre-school and loving it. She enjoys any activity outside, from hiking in the woods on various trails, walking our dog, swimming in our pool, planting our garden every year…she never stops! Super excited to become a big sister, she is helping us paint and decorate the baby room as well as finding awesome toys for baby sister or brother!
Travis works as a civil engineer. He also has a unique story as he was born without his femur bones, which just means he stands a tad shorter than most average men. He is a super hands-on dad, and nothing holds him back! Despite his disability, he won numerous medals as a competitive swimmer representing the United States in the Paralympics.
Sarah is a stay-at-home mom, which she will continue with future children as well. We love the idea of our kids coming home from school and having a parent there to play with them, make them a snack, and have fun! She loves reading, writing and music and always finds ways to incorporate them into play. Writing a children’s book might be in her future!
We live in a new development of fifteen homes in the Hudson Valley of New York. This house gave us the opportunity to make a home for our family. Last summer we put in a pool in our back yard so all of our children could learn how to swim with Travis, who was a Paralympic swimmer and won multiple medals.
Our primary faith is Episcopalian, which is what Sarah was raised as. We also have elements of Ukrainian faith, which was passed down from Sarah’s mother’s family. Many of her family members were married in the Ukrainian church and we celebrate Ukrainian Christmas (January 6th) with her cousins by making a big feast including lots of home-made pierogi!
We love decorating for Christmas, and look forward to cutting down a fresh tree each year at a local farm. Christmas music blasting, we have a great time trimming the tree together. Kelsie loves baking cookies together as a family and is our resident taste testing elf.
Our eleven-year-old husky mix, Sophia, loves playing outside with Kelsie and is thrilled that we finally have a huge fenced in yard. She is very protective of Kelsie and tries to “herd” her into safe areas.
Travel has always been a huge passion of ours. Taking a long weekend vacation is our favorite way to unwind and relax. We're already dreaming about all the places we can travel with our expanded family. It’s always been important to us that our kids experience new places, cultures, food, and people.
The beach and our pool are where you’ll find us throughout the summer. After building a new house last year, we decided it was the perfect time to put in a pool. Kelsie has been learning to swim in her own backyard. We travel many weekends to the beach in Massachusetts where we have a drive-on beach pass. It’s one of our favorite places in the world! Our children will always grow up at a beach!
Another new love has been Disney World. As a family, we traveled to Disney World the past two years, which has embedded so many magical memories into us. We can’t wait to experience Disney through the eyes of our newest addition!
Our Favorite Hobbies include stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, biking, reading, snowboarding, ice skating, apple picking, and Broadway musicals!
Just as we send letters and pictures to Kelsie’s birthmother, we are very open to sharing those with you as well, in addition to 1 to 2 visits per year. We feel it is important to share our child’s development and adventures with their birthparents. Any children that join our family will always know where they came from, about their background and heritage, as well as how their birth parents came to choose this special way of life for them.
Diversity is important to us because we want all of our children to have an understanding of all cultures and backgrounds. We are committed to raising our children with diverse activities and attending schools that have a broad spectrum of ethnicities. Adopting a child that may have a different ethnicity than our own, we would make sure that culturally appropriate activities were incorporated into their lives and add in special celebrations to our own daily life to celebrate their own cultural heritage.

“I’m dedicating every day to you…we’ll bleed and fight for you, we’ll make it right for you. If we lay a strong enough foundation, we’ll pass it on to you, we’ll give the world to you and you’ll blow us all away. Someday, someday…”
– this quote from Hamilton is the perfect description of our dedication to supporting our children and providing every opportunity in life for them to go as far as they possibly can go.
Thank you for giving us the hope, because without you we wouldn’t be able to build our family. Our family feels incomplete; without the wonder of adoption we would never have the opportunity to fulfill our dreams of having a bigger family. With so much more love in our hearts to give to more children, we want to spread and share that love with them.
Just as this child will be part of our family, so will you. We look forward to getting to know you and the miracle you’re bringing into the world.
