Our Story

It was a big prize volleyball tournament and charity event out on Long Island.  Everyone was strutting around with a cocky intimidating attitude.  One player stood out as being different and Rich just had to meet her.  She had an unusual name and a cool accent, sparks were flying and they weren’t just from the spikes Rich hit!

Tunde is from Hungary and it has been so fascinating to learn of European cultures and to look at many things with new perspectives.  Soon we were traveling to Europe together and Rich proposed in the quaint home village where Tunde spent her childhood and her family still lives.

It’s hard to believe it was 11 years ago when we had a very romantic getaway to Hawaii and got married on Maui.  We continue to explore and play volleyball but developing our home and lives together has been more rewarding then either of us could have expected.  We both feel very lucky to have found each other and dream of sharing our love with a child.

Family Life

We can’t imagine something more valuable than having a close family and supporting each other.  Holidays and birthdays would not be what they are without a fun gathering of family and friends sharing smiles and stories.   Rich’s brother, sister and Mom all live very close by.  We have lots of nieces and nephews so parties, barbecues and holidays can get pretty wild… but fun.

We are close with Tunde’s family despite the physical distance and our child will have the opportunity to enjoy Hungarian culture, language and friends.   Tunde’s mom will visit for an extended time when we adopt.

In our home you will also find our playful dogs Minnie and Munch.  We have three bunnies and a coral reef aquarium as well.  As you can imagine, we love animals and will pass our fascination of nature on to our child.

Lifestyle

Our life style is very diverse, creative and enthusiastic where a happy child will thrive.  We love to play outside and explore the world.  You might catch us competing in a sporting event, touring on a bicycle or off the coast on a diving trip.    We love spending time at home caring for our pets, reading, listening to music, improving our house or preparing meals in our kitchen.  Over the holidays we had a blast setting up our nursery.

Our back yard is huge with a giant sand box and patio.  Behind our house is wooded parkland that includes a pond, ball fields and play grounds.  Around the block is a very nice swim club and nationally ranked schools.

Adoption

We are ready to become parents!  Our wish is to add a healthy, Caucasian newborn to six month old child to our family.  We would enjoy sending updates with photos, having visits and developing a relationship if the birth family is interested.  Tunde will be home full time with the child until he or she begins school.  Rich will take time off as well and be a very involved dad.    Another nice part to our story is that our child will have two young cousins who were also adopted.
