Hi, we are Erin and Brian and we are excited to share our story with you. We met after mutual friends introduced us at an after-hours work event held at a nearby restaurant near where we lived at the time, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We hit it off instantly talking about economics and our shared love for good adventure and at the end of the night Brian asked for a first date and we were inseparable from then on. After a year of dating, we got engaged and have been married almost 8 years, sharing adventures from travel to new experiences (stand-up paddle boarding, snowboarding, mountain biking, and hiking). Brian is close to the end of his military career, so we’re looking forward to putting down roots and building our dream house on at least 10 acres of land.
Our relationships with our family and friends are the most important thing to us and we make spending time with them a priority. No matter where we are, we work hard to visit and spend quality time with them throughout the year. Sometimes that’s lounging at their house or ours and other times we vacation together. This year, in addition to our local visits, we’ve spent time making memories at Disney World with our family and snowboarding in Lake Tahoe with some dear friends.
We are non-denominational Christians, who want to raise open-minded, independent, and thoughtful children.
Our main tradition is to give a Halloween party, it is our favorite time to get dressed up, spend time with friends and family, and have some fun. Our dogs have even gotten into it over the years. Unfortunately, we’re now down to one dog, Chan, a Pekingese who was Erin’s mom’s dog and we added to our family when she passed. We do plan to add another dog to the family in the near future because Chan is getting older and could use some companionship.
We love to be active, go on adventures and have new experiences. On weekends you will often find us checking out a new hiking trail, snowboarding, mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, horseback riding, or checking out a new town. We enjoy exploring because the world is full of new places to see, people to meet, and experiences to have and we want to do, see, and learn as much as we can from it all.
We live in 4 bedroom house with plenty of room to grow our family. This is the perfect place for us because it’s a quiet and safe neighborhood, full of kids, with a diverse community that allows us to fill our life with so many wonderful people.
We want to follow your lead on the level on contact you desire, please know our lines of communication are open for whatever family contact you desire. We welcome the opportunity to have an open adoption where letters, pictures, annual visits, phone calls, and email are part of experience. While we may move one more time with the military, we plan to ensure that communication and annual visits are a priority because of how much we value family. We also understand and respect any decision you may have concerning frequency of contact, but we will always keep our lines of communication open should there be a change of heart.
Diversity is important to us because we’ve got family and friends who come from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and they are part of the network who supports and nurtures us. We also want to raise loving, caring, and strong humans and know that an open and accepting heart requires understanding and appreciating all the people in the world around us.
If we raise a child with a different ethnic background than our own, we plan to purposefully integrate their background into their life as they grow up. On a daily basis, we will keep ethnic and cultural influences in terms of books, art, and television in the house and encourage learning about the fantastic traits they’ve inherited from their family of origin and culture. If you are willing to have an open relationship, we would appreciate your help in sharing your culture and provide any traditions we could incorporate as a family. In addition, if we aren’t already part of a supportive community that reflects their heritage, we will seek out one that can help develop their identity and understanding of their culture and can help us to learn more.
