Hello, we are Kristie and Shannon! We met through mutual friends out of high school. We ended up dating a few years later and have now been together for over twenty years. We stayed in the town we grew up in because of the culture it provides. We had our daughter Skyler who is currently attending college in Pennsylvania in early 2000 and that was the start of our adventure as parents. We always wanted to expand our family but experienced complications along the way. In our future, we hope to expand our family through adoption and look forward to the years to come.
Our family has many traditions. The biggest and most looked forward to tradition is probably Christmas which is hosted at our house every year, and often includes a full house of family and friends, lots of food, and tons of fun. We also do annual family vacations down the shore in the summer. Our extended family is very big but close knit and we are very involved in each other’s lives whether it be meeting for dinner or going on a trip. We enjoy taking our dogs- Dexter and Dozer (English Bulldogs) to the park and going for walks when the weather permits- and we especially love grabbing ice cream on the way home.
Shannon’s activities includes a pool league that he has been a member of for twenty years. Kristie enjoys participating in fitness classes at her gym and baking. We enjoy having movie nights together. Our community consists of very close neighbors, many of which have been around for years. We all talk outside on the block and everyone knows everyone on our block. Our town very diverse and has a very strong culture of its own.
We are comfortable with sending letters, pictures, having annual visits, or email/telephone contact. It would mean a lot to the child to know more about their biological family.
We have so many different ethnic backgrounds in our family, and it is a big part of our family conversations. We enjoy learning more about the cultures we come from and intend to do the same for the ethnic background of the children we adopt.
