Hello, we are Katie and Steven, thanks for considering us. We’re excited to tell you a bit about us. We met in 2002 while attending college at Clarkson University. We could make each other laugh and found out we had similar interests and values. After college we found employment in Syracuse, New York and moved there to start the next chapter of our life. A few years after we settled in to our new home and Steven proposed during a weekend trip to Niagara Falls.
In 2008, with our family and friends in attendance, we got married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. During our time in Syracuse we bought our first house, adopted a chocolate Labrador, found a love for hiking, snow shoeing and attending sporting events.
An opportunity to move closer to family presented itself in 2015. We now reside in New Jersey and live down the road from Katie’s sister and close to Steven’s brother and their families. This allows us to spend time with our nieces and help out our family when needed. We have been married for 10 years now and are excited to raise a child together.
We were both raised Catholic and lead our lives by the principle of treating others with respect. Other values we hold close are hard work, planning for the future, being open-minded and being helpful to others.
Katie’s mom and Steven’s grandmother were both lost to Alzheimer’s disease. We actively give back and volunteer to create awareness for this charity.
We love spending time with our 5 nieces and being active in their lives as much as possible. Since our move to New Jersey, we are fortunate enough to celebrate holidays, special occasions and milestones with them. Our nieces often have sleep overs at our house which couldn’t be more rewarding. We love having family close and being able to share activities with them.
We are super lucky to have an awesome dog, Grace. She is a 1 year old chocolate lab. Grace came to us as a puppy at 9 weeks old. She keeps us active and always on our toes.
Katie loves to watch HGTV which translates into working on house projects. It is rewarding and allows us to turn a house into our home. We both love to cook and even prepare a weekly menu so we don’t have to rely on fast food. Having dinner together each night allows us time together to talk about our day. We have some separate interests; Steve enjoys putting puzzles together and Katie enjoys baking, home design and decoration. Every Christmas we deliver cookies to our family and neighbors.
We also love doing outdoor activities like walking around the neighborhood, keeping up with yard work and planning hikes with our dog. We like to go on “coffee dates” since we both enjoy a good cup of joe.
We understand the importance of openness and the benefits it provides to the child. We are committed to keeping these communication lines open. With the hopes of gaining opportunities to learn from you and also to inform you of milestones in our lives. As with any interpersonal relationship this will take shape with time and we look forward to including you in the journey.
We’ve hoped to be parents for a while. While adoption isn’t the “traditional” way to grow a family, we’re excited about the opportunities adoption will bring to our family. Our family has been blessed with five nieces already. Two of our nieces are multi-racial adding another special element to our family. We are excited to continue on this journey and incorporate a unique element into our family. We are devoted to learning more about the cultures we bring into our family and to teach our child about their heritage and what makes them so special. We live in a culturally diverse community which will help us experience and learn cultures unlike our own.

|Childhood memory||Working at my family’s business. My parents owned a small radio station. My dad worked in the radio business in Cleveland as well. I was “brought up” on music; all kinds. I had my own radio show at my parent’s station, “Katie’s Greatest Hits”.||Going camping with my Grandparents. My sister and I would get to explore the campground with our cousins during the day. At night when the rest of the family was done work they would all come out to the campsite and we would gather by the fire.|
